An idol iPhone app which allowed users to tear the clothes off a selection of saucy idols has fallen foul of the puritans at Apple – as usual Apple gives no explanation for the ban, although rather than bullying an independent software developer, this time they have picked a fight with heavyweight publisher Kodansha.
The app, “RIP! Mosatsu!”, offers users the innocuous experience of using their finger to tear off the top layer of an idol’s clothing:
The iPhone version is derived from a popular series of books based on the same concept.
The obligatory sampling of girly pictures:
Released in December, the app was pulled by Apple several months later, with Apple only offering “the criteria have changed” by way of explanation.
Kodansha, the publishers of the app and the books, are sufficiently displeased to have ensured word of this got out to the news media, and castigate Apple in their own words:
“It’s rather questionable for them to be deleting products which passed initial inspection, without so much as an explanation.”
“As a major media distribution channel, they should publish the inspection criteria.”
That they did not offer up only some spineless platitudes and an apology to users probably indicates they are not at all happy with Apple’s decision to randomly ban their product for no reason.
With the iPad being heralded as a next generation publishing platform, users would do well to bear in mind Apple draconian attitude to censoring anything it feels might sully its carefully cultivated brand image – an image which, it seems, has no place for raunchiness.
wow the most stupid app iv seen ever!
Lol. There’s an app like this for the android.
cool feature 😀
Those pics reminds me Omamori Himari Op.
This app needs to come to Android. There no censorship on Android and its a much more friendly environment.
