Upcoming epic fantasy anime Guin Saga, which as we heard is the adaptation of the famed 120 volume series of novels by Kaoru Kurimoto, has received a firm air date, starting April on NHK BS2, as well as some further details.
Most interestingly, we see something of the “charactor” designs:
Nicely understated, or merely plain?
Direction will be by 若林厚史 / Atsushi Wakabayashi, a director and animarion supervisor of favourable repute who has directed episodes of YuYu Hakusho, GitS: SAC, and even Naruto. The production is being handled by Satellite.

Given the acclaim the novels have received it will certainly be interesting to see how well this is adapted.
erm, are there any other female characters aside from the l♥♥i ape?
…well, yes, the “princess” I presume would be a girl.
I read the first novel. I hate the anime designs. This better be good and bloody.
i dare you for…
RULE 34 OF l♥♥i APE!!!
I’d consider it if there was an R in front of your APE.
“Nicely understated, or merely plain?”
A bit of both? Personally, I was hoping they adapt a style from Yoshitaka Amano’s illustrations for some of the volumes, but I guess that wouldn’t fly too well. Either way, looking foward to it, what I’ve read of the series is pretty good.
l♥♥i ape?! FFFFFFFFFF i’ll pass
