Shohei Ohtani Found Innocent While Interpreter Pleads Guilty

Shohei Ohtani Found Innocent While Interpreter Pleads Guilty

Japanese LA Dodgers superstar player Shohei Ohtani has been found innocent of involvement in the money embezzlement scandal charged against his former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara, while the latter has now pleaded guilty to gambling away the former’s money.

As reported by The New York Times, it seems that there are suspicions that Mizuhara stole more than what was originally discovered at the beginning and that he had changed the settings of the account so that Ohtani wouldn’t receive notifications of the wire transfers.

On the other hand, the investigation ended with Ohtani himself found clean, and while not a good decision in hindsight, the fact that Ohtani didn’t touch his money in the bank seemed to give credence to his statements that he has never gambled on sports.

Mizuhara has since appeared in court with a guilty plea, and his arraignment is on May 9th.
