The popular oshiri smartphone game Goddess of Victory: Nikke appears to have been caught stealing character designs after an artist confirmed that the devs sent him an apology message about the striking similarities.
The ‘mass-produced’ units shown in the middle and right are the characters that users noticed look similar to a character made by the artist neco.
Here’s a statue of the character:
The bodysuit looks quite similar, but the hairstyle and hairband are probably the more prominent parts stolen by the Nikke designers.
The artist neco confirmed the fact on an X post, saying:
“I think there are some people who are interested, so I have received a DM from NIKKE management apologizing and acknowledging the similarities between characters. We’re currently investigating and discussing future measures, so please wait a while for more.”
At least they owned up to it I guess. Hopefully they will credit him and pay him.
Yours look like those warhammer soldiers, that is not the warhammer emperor though.
This is kinda crazy.
You can only have so many character designs, eventually you’re going to make something else someone else has made. They changed it up enough where its a non issue imo.
When next collab event? 🤔🥱
Yeah, they probably did steal the design, but it’s already a generic cyber ninja. Plus this is gacha garbage, so expecting them to have integrity about art of all things is a stretch.
….and yet they are showing that integrity here by working with the artist and resolving the issue internally.
Sweet summer child. Believing corpos who use gambling tactics to extract money is not advisable.
It all looks like AI. Is that what the future holds? Computers suing each other for intellectual theft?
