A Gifu Prefecture city worker has been suspended for six months after assaulting a woman and causing her to fall over because he ‘wanted to get a closer look at her pantsu.’
The 54-year-old man is an employee at the Gifu Prefectural Agricultural Technology Center, where he works as a chief specialist researcher. According to Gifu Prefecture, the male employee assaulted a teenage woman who was sitting on a curb in Hashima City by causing her to fall over and then pushing her legs apart, causing injuries to her knees and other areas.
He was arrested on suspicion of causing injury and was given a summary order for a fine of 500,000 yen at the Gifu Summary Court in August.
When interviewed by Gifu Prefecture officials, the man explained that he was driving a public vehicle during work hours and saw the woman’s underwear, so he wanted to get a closer look and stopped the car and assaulted her.
“We sincerely apologize to the victims and citizens of the Prefecture,” said Gifu Prefecture in an official statement with a strict warning to the employee’s two superiors.
