Yoshimi Yasuda, the producer of Lollipop Chainsaw, has seen the wealth of criticism being directed at the announcement of the remake and addressed concerns in a thorough message, explaining they will “negotiate with platform holders” so the game will be as close to the original as possible.
Yasuda addressed all the criticism by saying the story won’t be changed, Juliet’s design will remain the same, and that they intend to talk with platform holders to ensure as little censorship as possible:
Many will naturally be skeptical as the current trend of video game developers and companies, when it comes to remaking old titles, is to censor anything deemed “offensive”.
These are pure excuses to make a butchered remake.
Unless they go for the Switch, Playstation, Microsoft and Steam wont allow certain scenes that were in the original to happen again (or the devs do what OLL did…..which i doubt it will happen ever again) . For example, i bet you anything that the scene where Morikawa gets introduced to Nick while looking at Juliet’s ass wont be there. I also bet that Juliet’s bouncy tits wont happen (for example when Morikawa lands on Juliet’s tits) and certain costumes that you could buy (in-game) wont happen as well.
The fact that licenses are in issue (ok, i get that) doesnt excuse a remake over a remaster. Especially not when their goal (as they claim) is not to make a new game but just to allow players to play Lollipop Chainsaw “easily”. If that were the goal, a remaster would suffice. Or if players were really interested in the game, they would buy a PS3/360 and play the game on those.
Now, he also says that the assumption that they (the devs) want to change Juliet is baseless. Its not that you want to change her, its that you will be forced to change her.
Also that “newest technology” thing is a bullshit excuse, especially when combined with the word “realistic”. A remake of a PS1 game? Ok fine, i understand (but then again, look at how FFVIIReimagining turned out) but a remake of a PS3 game? Yeah, just no.
