Toffer Team, the developer behind eroge Lewd Idol Project that had their PayPal account locked after raising money through Kickstarter, announced that PayPal has now allegedly taken the last of their crowdfunded money from their account.
The developer made this turn of events known through Twitter and shared a relevant screenshot:
They also stated they might make a new campaign in the future to help the development on volumes two and three be more “smooth” (hopefully without use of PayPal):
Toffer Team had their PayPal account locked after generating $35,116 for their game through Kickstarter, with the service claiming they locked the account because Toffer Team’s content is “related to sexual services”.
PayPal has been stealing everyone’s money left and right using SJW bullshit as an excuse
Crowdfunding is a pretty big risk for the backers as it is, but with shitty gatekeepers like PayPal things are even worse. I’m inclined to believe the developer here since these big tech companies will take your money after they shatter your account.
Even if there were no risk, it is a disgusting practice…people funding someone else’s business so said business doesn’t have to act like a real business and get a loan without the backers even getting a share of the profit
I agree. It’s a completely broken system with no accountability for the developers.
“CrowdFunding” is just a nice way of saying “CrowdGifting”. You’re giving people money with no guarantee of any return. How is that not just a gift?
That said, Paypal is dirty and they should have known this could happen. Paypal is the new morality police along with Visa.

need to take it to damn court.. I do not see how they can legally keep the money.. they can cancel your account but how can they legally keep the money?
They should be required to refund the money to those who paid it, but I’m sure there’s some loophole that they’re abusing to keep it.
