The twisted elimination of gender has begun to permeate through Japan as a livestream for the upcoming Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis had a segment where the presenter brags about the game having no gender selection, instead allowing players to select “human type 1” or “human type 2”.
The official Phantasy Star Online 2 YouTube account had an individual translating the Japanese livestream as it was happening, and there was a section that talked about how character creation has no gender distinction:

Similarly, face types available to the player were not gendered either and were labeled “Face Type A” and “Face Type B”:
There is no selection for race either, and racial traits such as elf ears or horns are now all just immediately accessible.
This eradication of basic human biology is becoming more and more common in the West, but the fact that this is now even effecting Japanese games will likely have many concerned that the corrupt gender politics of ideologues will end up going much further.

So, how do Casts fit into all of this?
In pso2 lore – casts are cyborgs, people whos body cant wistand their powers. Robocop is a closest analog.
But in later episodes fully syntetic CASTs also appeared – but they are essentialy civilian support androids, cuz they cant perform in combat properly (cant use Photons, if im not wrong).
I think this was made as purely cosmetic option, cuz , you know,65% of pso2 is character creation. U grind money to buy ur waifu a new set of garterbelts or shiny latex combatsuit. So basicly – you can swap more costumes (CAST have acces to entirely different set of cosmetics- robot-type limbs,heads and torsos), spend more money on gacha with cosmetics (now u dont need to bother that u cant use cast parts- u cant swap to a cast if u want) and etc.
Plus in pso2 was a calear… i cant say gender-ralated, more developers lazyness… disbalance in costumes. Im not talking about coctail dresses on a male im talking about – for example – lack of “combat vest” type outwears for female characters, gender restricted sci-fi hoodies and etc.
