Outrage Cultists Get Boku no Hero Academia Censored Over Name

Twitter’s abundance of whiners and complainers have forced yet another individual to censor their works over something completely harmless, this time with the creator of superhero franchise Boku no Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi, being forced to change the name of a character due to it also describing people experimented on during World War II.

The tears from the usual leftist snowflakes who take offense to any and everything began to spill when a new chapter for Boku no Hero Academia revealed that character Dr. Ujiko’s real name is actually Shiga Maruta – the word “maruta” (丸太) also refers to humans that were experimented on during World War II.

Since the word also refers to a tragic past event, outrage cultists immediately began to demand the character’s name be changed as all instances of the harmless word – and people named Maruta apparently – are now “offensive” (with this notion also being pedaled by agenda-driven websites).

Creator Kohei Horikoshi unwisely decided to listen to these nonsensical cries, issuing a statement on Twitter explaining that he had no intent on referencing the past with the name and that it will be changed in the future:

“Regarding the name Shiga Maruta in this week’s latest issue of Shonen Jump, there have been many opinions recollecting historical events. I had no intention of having the name serve such a purpose. We take the advice of readers very seriously and in the future we will change the name.”

Shonen Jump’s editorial department delivered similar sentiments on Twitter:

– Notice – Regarding the character “Shiga Maruta” in Boku no Hero Academia in Weekly Shonen Jump number 10 (on sale February 3rd), many have indicated that the name “stirs recollection of past historical facts”. In regards to this naming, this was not the intent of either the original creator or the editorial department.

However, we do not intend to overlap this work with unrelated historical facts. After consulting with the author, we will change the name of the character in the comic.

Only a fraction of the many comments complaining about the use of Maruta, with the mob even utilizing the hashtag “APOLOGIZE HORIKOSHI” – though, judging by the less than creative account names, it could be that bots are spamming this absurd demand:

Regarded by deluded individuals as a bastion free from SJW outrage and feminist propaganda and the like, not even Japan is exempt from “controversy” and the concept of caving to incessant whining from those who desire to live in a bubble free from all harm and words that hurt their precious feelings.
