Two Confronted by Police for Threatening Tifa Lockhart Seiyuu Ayumi Ito

Tifa Lockhart‘s established seiyuu, Ayumi Ito, has been threatened by one male and one female online, leading to files being charged against both of them.

Charges were filed against a man in his 30’s (from Hokkaido) and a woman in her 20’s (from Aichi) on suspicion of forcible obstruction of business and coercion toward Tifa Lockhart seiyuu Ayumi Ito, who will also be playing the voice of Tifa in the Final Fantasy VII remake.

Both the man and woman had no occupation, weren’t acquainted with each other in any way and threatened Ito separately; the woman contacted Ito’s affiliated public entertainment office via their official website’s inquiry ticket window, sending messages to the nature of “I hate you so much I want to kill you” and “I should stab the back of your hand with a fork as hard as I can”.

The male culprit instead used the comment ticket window for an unspecified game company, typing out messages such as “I want a game character’s seiyuu to be changed from Ito-san” and “I have the feeling of wanting to stab with a knife and gouge eyeballs”.

The public entertainment office and game company contacted Shinjuku police in June – Ito also cancelled her appearance at an advanced screening that was planned for November 25th.
