Police in Seoul have questioned a man on suspicion of beating a Japanese woman in an incident that has caused widespread outrage in recent days.
A man accused of beating a Japanese woman after she and her friend ignored his nanpa attempts has denied the crimes, saying that the images were somehow manipulated – the man had voluntarily submitted himself for questioning.
The Japanese women who posted tweets about the assault have also spoken to police, who have promised to thoroughly investigate the crime.
Some of the online public response to Korean news articles about the case consists of claims that the incident was fabricated and is part of a Japanese conspiracy to damage Korea.
They are the ones damaging the image of Korea by turning the tantrum of a manchild into a political issue.
