MediBang Inc. has collaborated with SHUEISHA Inc. and YES24 Corp. to hold the JUMP PAINT Global Artistic Manga Award Contest, an event that allows novice manga artists to submit their works for a chance to win ¥1 million.
Artists and illustrators around the world can submit their manga into the contest through JUMP PAINT (the official Jump manga creation app that provides an assortment of tools to help build user skills up to a professional level) and have it evaluated by the Shonen Jump+ editing team; already existing works that are publicly available online can also be submitted.
Entrants looking to demonstrate their artistic prowess can also submit a work based on one of the Shonen Jump+ editing team’s official drafts (names): Love Comedy or Battle – those worried about potential languages barriers need not worry as submissions can be in English, Spanish, Korean and both simplified and traditional Chinese.
The contest will be promoted in Korea by YES24 via Shiftbooks and social media – the grand prize winner will be gifted the hefty sum of ¥1 million whilst the semi-grand prize winner will rake in ¥300,000.
Potential applicants have until September 24th to get their submissions in – further details can be read on the official site.
Not even 10 grand, way less if it’s taxed, and I’m sure they get the rights to every submission. What a joke.
> I’m sure they get the rights to every submission. What a joke.
Maybe, but if you’re sure when you don’t know s♥♥t, that would make you the joke. You wouldn’t do that, would you? Besides, most of these contests don’t even have prize money; they expect the applicants to be happy with the exposure.
10 Grand is an insane amount of money if you aren’t already famous. What the f♥♥k are you talking about, 23:44?
Sure, I can draw, but there’s no way I’d be able to beat the hundreds of more experienced or just plain more qualified people entering this. Phew! O_O
Not with that attitude.
