Sony has a reason for keeping consumers from playing games with their friends – Sony boss Kenichiro Yoshida says that the PS4 has no cross-platform play simply because the console is superior to every other.
Kenichiro Yoshida spoke at the IFA technology show in Berlin, claiming the company doesn’t fully support the concept of cross-platform play because they believe their console is better than all the others, a natural enough sentiment for a Sony man – his entire statement:
“On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best place to play. Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that’s our belief.
But actually, we already opened some games as cross-platform with PC and some others, so we decide based on what is the best user experience. That is our way of thinking for cross-platform.
I think competition is always good. Healthy, fair competition is always good for the industry and growth. I think competition with Nintendo and Xbox is a healthy situation.”

its not an argument, its is own opinion being a person that works at sony, he doesn’t see a need of cross play with other consoles just accept that, you get it with pc thats enough.
So, no crossplay with other consoles because PS4>others. But they do see the need to add crossplay with PC, so, is je admitting PC>PS4?
I’d say that he considers the PC to be more of an “equal” to the PS4. Or a completely different animal from game consoles altogether, and therefore not enough of a competition to bother excluding from cross-platform play.
Ironically, the PC is the only system that has an explicit advantage in crossplay, thanks to natively having a keyboard and mouse available as well as any controllers the player may own. Regardless of any rivalries, PC users just plain have more buttons they can assign functions to, which can be a huge advantage in some multiplayer games.
I don’t understand why crossplay is such a big deal for Sony in the first place. What’s harm in letting the PS4 crossplay with everyone else? Are they afraid that people will think that “Hey, Fortnite players on Xbox/PC/Wii are kicking my ass. It must be the console. I better go buy that other console”.
Possibility that is strictly on PC. You get it for free and you don’t have to pay extra to Sony. Xbox doesn’t even register anymore.
