Have you not seen the original? This looks nothing like what happened in any part of Death Note, so I guess to answer you this is completely new.
Dragonball Evolution was nothing like the original but it was a retelling of the original story.
I’ve got high hopes, honestly. The original live action movies they did were actually pretty good.
