A new reference book has emerged entitled “Real Action Pose Shots 02: Body Action Edition“, possessing an abundance of men in suits and bare-bodied gangsters engaged in combat that will surely aid aspiring artists and others in replicating such over-the-top poses.
The drawing aid (a sequel to “Real Action Pose Shots 01: The Compilation of Female High School Students“) and its many muscular samples, which also features semi-nude versions for a better grasp on the position of their anatomy (or other reasons):
Real Action Pose Shots 02: Body Action Edition and its many muscular men are available for purchase now, those who would rather witness women frolicking about in their undergarments can purchase the first book in the series instead.
Same type of books with women in action exists, equally awesome.

Still, those poses and bodies are pretty awesome.
No ‘still’ about it, only an idiot would consider this just ‘drawing half naked men.’ This book looks absolutely amazing. To be able to catch that much dynamism in motion in still real life pictures is absolutely a feat worthy of praise. I am definitely buying this, I’m already inspired to draw from some of these poses right now.
Nope the book sucks–pretty much all the posing books suck.
Seems like the photographers shoot the models using something stupid like an 18mm lens, which causes huge amounts of distortion–the bodies are way too long for their legs.
So if you’re really good at anatomy, proportions and perspective or just want to look at pictures it’s a great book.
If you’re an amateur looking for photo-reference, poses, or practice material you would do better watching and pausing youtube videos.
These books aren’t for anatomy, more like dynamism and posing reference. If anything it helps with muscle shapes rather than proportion. As always the issue with still images is they flatten the three-dimensionality. If anything it’s beyond worth it for the suits and folds. A youtube video or movie will have motion blur so it too works overall for poses, but in terms of dynamic folds being caught in a still, these are far superior. It all depends on how they’re used really.
Comic artist here. Yeah books like these are mostly used for layout/composition references especially when you need to illustrate two or more people in up-close combat. It’s a time saver compared to making up the layout on your own.
