The arrival of Clannad‘s English release onto Steam has seemingly racked up enough popularity and sales to see it achieve a higher “top sellers” ranking than that of Call of Duty and GTA V, an unforeseen event considering the western market’s love for violence and mindless shooters.
The legendary visual novel had managed to achieve this English release thanks to the donations of numerous thoughtful backers on its Kickstarter (accumulating a massive total of $541,161), the notoriety from the campaign likely being one reason why the game is selling so well.
The wealth of steam reviews available for the game seem to have taken a clear stance in regards to its quality:
“Warning: Disliking this game is punishable by death.”
“I said the 50 tissues in front of my computer was from masturbation, but it was in fact tears from playing this VN.”
“i cri evrytiem ;_;”
“It will make you cry, it will make you laugh and it is very much worth the price being asked for it. ”
“10/10
Would Cry Again.”“Seeing Clannad on Steam is like a dream coming true. This is a masterpiece by every meaning of the word. I’ll be playing it for as long as I can.”
The legendary visual novel has seen to a decline in the ranking hours after its release, but has yet to dissipate completely – Clannad can be purchased now.
This series is awful. I have played vns for porn and comedy, this has neither. this is also not how relationships work. no not even in japan. people in love have sexual encounters. that’s how things work. this is fantasy world drivel.
Visual Novel. Fiction. Fantasy. Japan. I fail to see what the problem is here.
I really liked the anime. I bought the dvd for it.. However I don’t think I’d want to buy the visual novel. I saw a bunch of those on steam but idk. if I was going to try one I’d rather it not e 50$. I rather put down 50/60$ for a game like Uncharted 4 or maybe another entry into the SoulCalibur series. A mario galaxy 3 I’d throw money at. The thing all those have in common is they are quite interactive. If I was going to buy a visual novel I feel like I’d get a better deal from a manga book. But idk, maybe I’ll try to find one for like under 10$ that’s really good to sway my line of thought.
It’s still cool to see anything that I happen to like to be on the top of the list. By anything I mean anything that’s not necessarily popular where I live. IE just about everything japan related lol.
Tired of seeing COD on the top. Shooters get boring really fucking quick. The only way I find them to be interesting is if they bring some fun storymode to the table like Uncharted, MirrorEdge, Bioshock infinite, metal gear solid,
…Are you serious? VNs in Japan regularly go for $90+. This is cheap. Good luck finding anything good for $10 that wasn’t made like 10 years ago.

Not to piss on anyones parade but the surge up the charts is down to people redeeming their steam keys from crowdsourcing the project.
this game must be worse than tales of zestria that game sucks really bad. Life is Strange is the game of the year for me.
They should remake Tales of Legendia instead of doing more Tales games. Give it a better battle system and expand on what’s on the mainland. The entire game takes place on one floating island, and they show you the map near the end of the game showing a huge fucking continent.
