Yet another moe slice-of-life has made its debut this season, with Hanayamata focusing unusually on the dance form known as Yosakoi, and coming with plenty of gags, moe and a dash of yuri – proving to be one of the more unique shows of the season if only thanks to its obscure theme.

Am I the only thinking “Nice Boat” on one of the GIF pictures?
Sad Anime…please japan stop!
I like it, so please kill yourself.
Alright I’m watching this for reasons and Hana makes me feel (to quote Cardcaptor Sakura)”all fluttery” inside
Ahh. It heals my heart~~
Hmm dancing = movement. Maybe this will finally be a Japanese animation that doesn’t shortcut on actual animation that can compete with the USA. Would be nice finally watching anime that doesn’t look like a slideshow or seizure inducing color and special gimmick effects with only the mouth moving.
I’m so tired of Japanese animators cutting corners. Its freaking 2014 for Bob Ross’s sake.
Hahah, “compete with the USA”.
That’s cute, the way you like your own country’s animation.
Indeed. However do note that japan is where every single thing is expensive and anime is primarily the lifeblood of Akiba. The connection is about the sales. A network shows it, people watch it, the gamble starts if they wanna buy some of it and if you fail, you basically just wasted your time and starve for the next three months.
It’s not like American cartoons with overused superheroes like batmilk, super dildo or baygon destroyer man – western folk who adores cartoons such as that is dumber than the ones who watches japanese cartoon for their cartoon HAS to offer something on the table, not just flash and cash approach.
It’s like the second coming of WAKE UP GIRLS.
um… what? no it’s not. wake up girls is more of a social commentary/satire/akb fanfic… thus the o-so-obvious title and the depiction of meat grinder industry practices. this show so far only has moe and yuri… it’s completely different.
I think what he meant was that some of the cast’s debut roles are from Wake Up Girls.
