The latest car manufacturer to plotting to empty otaku wallets with an official itasha is none other than Toyota, with Girls und Panzer Prius and Vitz (“Yaris” in barbarian lands) models.
Unveiling the project at ACE, Toyota explains that whilst their various promotional itasha proved popular at events, this is the first model they are actually selling through normal channels – supposedly because fans kept pestering them to actually sell them.
Whilst the surely steep prices have not been announced, their place of sale has – Toyota’s Ikebukuro showroom in Tokyo, which not coincidentally happens to be located next-door to an Animate store.
Gotta ask Relic to release a Girls und Panzer DLC for Company of Heroes 2. Totally buying no matter the cost.
Nice. Wish I had an itasha here in the UK. But mind you, would proberly get keyed by some wanker. Only ever seen 1 here. Want to see mote.
i still prefer my civilian, old model Benz : deutsch Engineering and “ironsights”.
I personally prefer a Beetle.
Still waiting on Toyota for my Meiko or Megurine Luka 4WD Rav-4 V6.
Come on Toyota, if you build it, I will buy it!
Toyota “made a contract” only with Miku. They don’t have rights to make them two appear on their cars.
I’m surprised Otaku can afford a car, after they’ve bought all their doujinshi, figures, dakimakuras, etc.
