Hanasaku Iroha, a tale of a girl exiled into living in the countryside with her grandmother at an onsen, is being greeted warmly despite lacking magical loli, moeblobs or bouncing breasts, instead opting for the novelty of a storyline which would not be out of place in one of Japan’s lunchtime dramas, coupled with some strikingly good animation and scenery.
“Girl being abused by a harsh matriarch” is a staple trope in Japanese TV drama, though not one often encountered in anime…
Between pointless drama and pointless ecchi… I admit character designs look cute but the premise is mediocre. Is it gonna be a basic story of a naive girl suddenly being thrown into a harsh situation and forced to come of age?
Now we are talking.
Anime with real plot , story , character. cute and realistic. splendid just splendid.
i had enough of oppais , fan service , anime without real plot..etc..that exists nowadays.
woo~ slice of life ftw
Just 1 eps in and its already better than Madoka 😀

i’ll NEVER look at my grandparents or dad in a bad light again, even those other ones are AWESOME compared to that emotionally disfunct old woman….
btw. i think 12-gauge shotgun concrete slugs would do…
isn’t it funny hoew old people in manga are ALWAYS portrayed as being cold and distant?
seriously wonder are there any warm-heathed older people in japan?
i know they are.
and such people need to show up in manga or anime to honor the real ones.
sooo cute 😀
