Otaku losses continue to mount with the news that top Touhou doujin event Reitaisai, formerly due on the 13th of March, is to be cancelled as a result of the quake.
Its venue is none other than Big Sight, which is now said to be undergoing safety checks. Major damage is not reported, so TAF, due in weeks, is unlikely to be affected.
it’s expected. still hopefully japan’s okay
Such Misfortune..
Personally it was a good choice. I’m a toouho fan and I try to support ZUN as much as possible. But this is both a smart move media wise and profit wise, putting on an event after a major earthquake like this will only result in loss of profit. I think with all the panic there wouldn’t be a lot of customers. Plus there won’t be backlash from media as others have pointed out.
This happened to an episode of Pokemon with Whiscash cuz the people thought it was too soon. From what I read, Wbhiscash uses earthquake in the show. Eventually they just said, “meh” and never aired it. This, however, I have the feeling won’t fade so easily.
Hinako (the youki who neutralizes misfortune) and Remilia (the youki who manipulates fate) dropped the ball. It’s up to Sanae (the priestess of miracles) and Tewi (the youki of luck) to pick up the slack.
You know, it just occurred to me this may be all Flandre’s fault. It’s been said her special ability allows her to instictively know a person’s or object’s weakness and strike at it…
