In a practically unheard of example of anime franchise development, mecha series Jinki, originally a general manga which was then adapted to an anime, is to be adapted into an adult game for the PC with character designs provided by the original author.
Details of the eroge adaptation, to be entitled JINKI EXTEND Re:VISION, are yet scarce, but
For a title to be adapted from an eroge into a mainstream anime and manga is common enough, but for the adaptation to take the opposite direction is unusual indeed.
As if that were not surprising enough, the mangaka responsible for creating the series, Shiro Tsunashima, will be overseeing the illustrations for the game directly, although considering the character of some of his own previous Jinki illustrations it is rather less surprising.
Just an fyi since some people seem to have the wrong idea, Jinki: Extend isn’t selling badly, at least not the manga, which this is clearly more based on. (they wouldn’t make any kind of game for it if it weren’t seeling well, let alone get a good company like GIGA to develop it)
I think people are thinking about Jinki:Extend’s stateside sales as their basis; I don’t know about the DVD sales, but the manga died at only three volumes because ADV took the rights with them in their sinking ship, and now it’s old news to the stateside manga publishers.
In Japan though, it’s still going strong; heck, it was supposed to end in Dengeki with Jinki Shinsetsu after Tunashinma (the manga creator) had a disagreement with Blade Comics and changed publishers, but then he made a comeback with Jinki: Extend Relation in Dragon Age Comics, in which the it’s currently running.

Oh yeah. I remember Jinki Extend. I only saw the first 2 episodes but it left a good impression.
