PSP dating game “Marriage Royale” has been attracting some not entirely approving attention after it became apparent the 12 characters present in the game are all seem to be identical colour and hair variations of the same face:
The game itself costs some $60.
Many derisively compare this all to Aoi Nishimata’s standard facial design:
A lot of the faces are similar, but not identical. Look at the nun (?) girl with the book. Her eyes are quite narrow and close together, unlike some of the other girls. Now look at the two maid sisters (?) each have very different faces from each other. And yes, the other ones have similar eyes, but different chins, etc. and they all have crazy hair and different outfits, so I don’t see a problem, although a bit more variation would be nice. Also, if you play Shuffle! from 2006, the faces are quite different, atleast in the game.
…really. I expected better of you people (when anime is concerned, I mean).
While it’s true that you can line up the eyes, nose and mouth to be the same in that video, if look at the top of the head and chin, they are constantly moving. The reason for this is because neither those nor the 12 shown above are actually the same face, it’s just that the anime tends not to show the details that distinguish those features clearly, so the artist needs to use the shape of the face and forehead.
btw tony taka’s characters look quite distinctive to me.
Artefact should point Shigunyan too
me wonders how she draws guy faces
Surprise? Hah, try again 🙂
