The glittering Japanese release of Windows 7 has been set awry by the pathetic failure of the operating system’s touchscreen capability on prime morning television:
Although this is Microsoft’s best operating system since Windows XP, many could be forgiven for thinking this is setting the bar a little low.
Between moe Nanami Madobe and a 7 patty Burger King hamburger gigant (the “Windows 7 Whopper”), there is a notable lack of emphasis on the shiny new features of Windows 7 in the launch campaign.
Most interesting of all is how Microsoft have cunningly hijacked the “OS-tan” meme, which traditionally alludes somehow to the shortcomings of the operating system, for example Vista-tan‘s enormous memory requirements being reflected in the size of her bosom.
Nanami appears on the other hand to be absolutely perfect, and has supplanted a fan-created OS-tan which might be embarrassing to Microsoft, although surely pictures of her impassively being groped are not far off…
Win7 is OK, but I hate the fact that it lacks a decent network browser. You can’t even see computers on the network by Workgroup which makes it quite useless when I’m working.
It lacks loads of stuff. For all the huge bloat, no decent media player (mkv support etc), no music player, no normal browser, have to pay extra for decent office software, etc. etc.
Wasn’t the whole rationale for paying them money that you’d get maximum functionality without the hassle?! So why the hell are we downloading so much freeware and buying/pirating software just to bring a new PC’s functionality up to the level of a CHEAP CELLPHONE?!?!
Apple just emulates windows 95% of the time.
Linux can’t be used by anything other then home users since it can’t avoid running some of windows exclusive programs for the business world.
f♥♥k off to the windows haters.

Enormous memory requirements? More like enormous mammary requirements!
*sigh* Murhpy’s Law in action. Luckily, it’s just touchscreen support (like ArcheR said: they’re evil, except for cellphones) and not the overall OS like Vista pre-SP1. I’ll still dual-boot RC1 until the wheels fall off in March, then I’ll install my free 7 Pro edition.
Windows malfunctions on the people trying to demonstrate its superiority, you say?
Plus ça change…
