DS virtual schoolgirl relationship simulation Love Plus has sold over 100,000 copies, with highly positive buzz having pushed sales on from the 45,000 copies sold in the first week.
Fans of the game are adamant about the worth of their virtual girlfriends, with “who needs real women when you have Love Plus” being a commonly heard sentiment online. Others have branded it “social poison,” saying it robs men of the opportunity to date real women by enthralling them with the charms of a virtual relationship.
In one key aspect the game differs from most dating simulators or visual novels – much of its appeal is based on cultivating and maintaining a “relationship” based on the games “real time clock” system, and on simple voice recognition, rather than pursuing a set-piece story or chasing specific characters, and it seems this element has successfully captured the hearts of many tens of thousands of ronery men.
That it is cheaper than a real girlfriend and significantly less risky than an actual schoolgirl must also help…
In any case, with 100,000 copies sold the game is a spectacular success for a dating game, and sequels and ports seem inevitable.
Love Plus ita-DS are now a common sight thanks to stickers being distributed with gaming magazines, and of course the efforts of lone craftsmen:
Via New Akiba.
Is this game even any good? How does it compare with other dating sims? I’m not really a fan of the genre but tell me at least the plot is good.
ressentiment manga any 1?
which magazines were these stickers released?
month year and magazine name please and thank you!
hmm, I don’t hate real women, but I like 2-D women more than the VAST majority of them, because I fucking hate normal people. I want a nerd girlfriend, and ONLY a nerd girlfriend. Absolutely zero interest in normal people, I would much rather play love plus than have a relationship with a normal female in nearly every case. That being said, I don’t like normal guys as friends either, normal people in general can all f♥♥k off.
Love plus is pure evil!
