Here we have an interesting comparison of the differences between the various iterations of the highly successful doujin mixed media franchise that is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.
From left to right, we see the anime, movie, original, TMA cosplay AV, PS2 game, fighting game Higurashi Daybreak, and the manga edition.
If you’re interested in seeing more, the latest version of the similar Haruhi comparison chart could well be instructive, and the 2D vs 3D tag is also worthy of reference.
It’s not clear which is considered the superior version; my guess would be the original or the anime?
how funny to remember this! (⌒▽⌒ゞ
I thank 2d, 3d is kindly remembered!
Anime is clearly superior, but the picture of the Movie Mion doesn’t do justice. She really is the hottest thing in Japan.
wtf is this?
I don’t really see any similarity b/w the real people and the 2D characters.
The hair color and the skin tones are different. Forget the colour! even the hair’s length and styles are different! Both give different aura. The real people give this ‘mature’ and ‘sly’ kind of aura. It’s like they are faking it. And the age difference is too much. If you compare them like that, the anime characters are this weird alien race and the real people are humans.
eh, they got live action mion and rena mixed up. anyway the superior is anime rei version (they’ve got a facelift in kai and again in rei)
Anime is superior. Surprising no-one. This happens a lot with doujin->anime adaptations actually; I still consider the Shingetsutan Tsukihime renditions of the characters definitive, even if the rest of the series was a dead loss.
