This maniacal otaku bought no less than five of the newly released 1/7 scale 八神はやて / Yagami Hayate figures, each in the region of ¥10,000, marking him out as an otaku’s otaku indeed. Stacked, the boxes reach a height of some 2m. Is he perhaps trying to communicate something?
Observers are speculating as to just what he needs five of them for; one to admire, one to save, one to show off, and… ?

Champion welter weight kickboxer and crossdressing otaku cosplay maniac Youichirou Jienotsu Nagashima has vowed a KO for his next opponent, a Thai, proclaiming in true Haruhi fashion: “I have no interest in any ordinary Thai. What concerns me are aliens, people from the future, and ESPers. I’ll definitely destroy him.”
We hear he has no pugilist idols, but expresses a wish to “become a strong character like Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha’s Vita”, illustrated wielding her trademark hammer below:

An otaku on an excursion with his daughter. The fact that his daughter bears a striking resemblance to a Touhou character and is in fact a doll seems to pass without comment on this train…
Would this be more or less terrifying than the cosplay terror train?
2ch is afire with praise for the manly Index obsessive who took it upon himself to buy no less than ten copies of Shonen Gangan in order to obtain ten Index mouse mats, currently being bundled with the December issue. As you can see, the pads are of the flat variety, though it’s not clear whether they are appropriately so.

In a rather bizarre piece of marketing we are presented with the opportuninty to buy Chaos;Head themed potato chips (or crisps if you prefer), in fact they are “fish burger” flavoured “Nanami Chips”; but what really stands out is the price: ¥700 ($7) for a 60g packet (which normally would cost about ¥125 or less in a conbini). On top of that there is another ¥630 in shipping…
Though there may yet be an otaku market for this kind of item, however strange that may be.
It seems the crazed maniacs who obsess over Kannagi heroine Nagi-sama’s virginity truly are on the fringes, or at least are counterbalanced by an equally obsessive contingent of the opposite persuasion, for we hear that in recent auctions membership cards for the official Kannagi Fan Club have reached prices of ¥20-25,000 ($250), with nobody quite able to explain why.

An American Pokemon maniac (32), calling herself “PikaBelleChu” and proclaiming herself a “PikaHolic”, has set some record or other, nightmarsihly festooning her domicile with Pokemon goods (specifically Pikachu) and going so far as to cosplay the creature obsessively.
She claims record worthiness and demands recognition for her collection of over 8,000 Pikachu goods. She even has an itasha.

The incredible reaction from otaku upon learning that Kannagi’s flat chested goddess Nagi-sama had a boyfriend, and may in fact be “second-hand”, even when the manga still has not resolved the issue, continues to attract much attention.
The latest development is that some virgin obsessed wretch on 2ch has taken the extreme step of publically destroying his copies of the manga, in order to fully express his ire at being betrayed by his 2D wife.
Perhaps there is a need for formal divorce proceedings in cases like this after all?
