Comment on Top 25 Anime Heroines of 2012 by Anonymous:

I do agree, these characters don’t really fit my ideal of a heroine…
Which are usually pretty strong characters.
Then again, by what I just said does not fit with the Japanese ideal of a woman.
I haven’t seen all the animes on the list, but I know Chitanda (Hyouka) isn’t really a heroine, more of the driving plot device.

Totally agree with you, I mean she was vice-commander of the most powerful guild in the game and yet when she was on screen she cries in nearly every scene. Of course that’s just in the SAO arc, for the rest of it she’s nothing but a damsel in distress. It’s such a shame because I feel like they wasted what could’ve been a great character to make her more moe.

I’d say I understand as Nanoha and Madoka are as borderline as they are good, but SAO? Index? Railgun? don’t know what female public they asked for that result….

Don’t worry, there’s an app for that.
