Unusually, Japan’s public broadcaster NHK has aired a programme delving into the culture and history of eroge and visual novels.
The show in question, the otaku-oriented MAGNET, featured prominent writer Jun Maeda of Key fame, journalist Daisuke Tsuda, Key founder Itaru Hinoue, and a little peak into the studio of Nitroplus – along with plenty of classic eroge/visual novels (the tame bits at least).
A visit to Key sees some footage of their upcoming title “Rewrite”:
The most controversial part of this program was without a doubt where one of Japan’s first eroge, Lolita Syndrome (Maison Rolita), was featured – an unusual choice of material for an ordinarily conservative state TV channel:
paradise heights. man that was awesome.
When did this air? I have Keyhole TV on my PC and I could’ve watched this. It looks interesting.
I only recognized Paradise Heights 2, just read/played it a couple of days ago again (the disc cover with a big “2” in it). Some of these look great, wish I knew if they have official or fan translations.
Some god awful choices thrown into it for sure, and a very “1 sided view” of the eroge industry..
Where’s my Rance, my Black-Cyc guro, my rapist games like biko, my chikan molester ames like itazura or chikan thomas!?!?
What a load of s♥♥t. Also a trip to nitro would have to include a bunch of girls or fag guys with all the bishounen s♥♥t they throw into everything..
Are you literally fucking autistic? Where’s my r♥♥e games? You just answered your own question you massive fucking retard.
It would be very intersesting to watch this program.
