Vocaloids Top Charts with “Vocalogenesis”

A Vocaloid album, Vocalogenesis, has hit the number one spot in Japan’s national album charts.
The Oricon charts ending for the 18th of May listed the Vocaloid album “Exit Tunes Presents Vocalogenesis feat. Hatsune Miku” as the top selling album, either demonstrating that concentrated otaku buying habits are the stuff marketers dream of, or, more flatteringly, that Vocaloid music is earning mainstream appeal.

I watched the second video with the song previews - I must say that many of them are just bad.
Especially Kaito and Len are fail.
And I'm a vocaloid fan.
Still a bit too tinny for most of the Vocaloid singers. Especially for Miku. Funny that the "live concert" was far less so. Luka was the stand out in that first show since I didn't even hear it in "her" voice what so ever.
The programmers really should go back into that software to pop out even better "talent" since the tinny voice is Mikus' charm to the public~

Personally I find Miku's (and the other Vocaloid's) voices to be reeeeeaaaaallllllly grating. However, the music and the videos that accompany them are usually pretty good, and sometimes even amazing.

That depends on the artist composing and producing the song: Voclaoid's only as good as the user/creator using it, plus whatever inherit limitations the software my have.
Professional Vocaloid2 users can handle the artificial symptoms of the vocaloid's voice, so they can make them sing quite natural. All the rest depends on what talent the musician have got.
I find Kagamine Rin's voice the best.
I could care less--I listen for the epic guitar shredding.

Just because the artist doesn't sing it and uses a vocal synthesizer in place of a human doesn't make them any less of a musician. They still deserve to be rewarded for all of their hard work, even IF it is easily accessible on the internet.

Exit tunes is awesome, I had to catch up on their super extensive backlog but now that I am caught up I can start buying stuff without the feeling of not having the entire collection.

This album definitely has a lot of popular songs, but sadly, these aren't the best Vocaloid songs in my opinion, for instance, I only like 1/6 and Nostalogic from them. Wait.. Is that there a new song from Jimmy-Thumb????
While i find this vocaloid phenomenon a cool thing, it definitely hurts me to see people that actually thing this is better than an actual band.
Very few vocaloid songs are actually good, but seeing as you people like the new K-ON songs I'm not surprised.
yeah, the K on songs just never appealed to me. It sounded as if they were just making a song for the sake of making the song for an anime.

But it is quite true that vocaloids can sound horrible, especially when the producer is tone deaf. Its not so bad once you get used to it (they warp the way you hear their voices? WTF?).
I'm amazed they got so many sales with the songs on here though. Rolling girl and 1/6 are personal favorites of mine. Nostalogic, Dye, and
parajikurorobenzen are also song I like.
But when you can get almost all the songs LEGALLY off the internet?
Any notable song is posted both on nicovideo and youtube and can be easily accessed by anyone. I was expecting the sales to be really low.

well if its from the Exit series, or exit trance/tunes. its bound to be good as the music composition is professional, not household quality.
But still, the best songs from Miku hatsune is the songs from the promotional advertisment such as (Melody.exe, 01_ballad, and a few others... the rest just dont compare to the current ones.

It's hard to do a good Vocaloid track. I like Supercell, and some of what Sweet Vacation did with Miku, and some assorted others, but I think a lot of those sound really abrupt and stilted. The delivery is anything but smooth.
