
The latest trailer for Final Fantasy XIII is absolutely ravishing. It shows both in-game cutscenes, and actual battle scenes for the first time, and the results are most spectacular.
This game looks set to sell a lot of PS3s (in Japan at any rate)…

Square Enix attached 山岸 功典 / Yoshinori Yamagishi, the creative force behind the Star Ocean series of RPGs, revealed recently in an interview that he would like to have made an eroge.
Whilst fans heave sighs of lamentation that he did not get his way, his bosses are doubtless yielding to sighs of relief…

3D adult game Time Leap, released in 2007, is set to have a spring 2009 sequel entitled Time Leap Paradise, which has attracted much attention by way of its similarity to Idol Master in gameplay (the characters will be completely dissimilar).
The game promises the much hankered after prospect of rearing idols and then having sex with them (where Idol Master only allows limited sexual harassment); these idols will be made to dance and attire themselves gaily in proper idol fashion, and as you can see below, the graphics look to be quite reasonable:

A sparring match between top figures in both the Microsoft and Sony camps has lead to Sony castigating Microsoft’s “lack of longevity”, whilst Microsoft then shoots back, calling Sony an “out of touch” dinosaur of the previous generation.
What emerges is some very interesting speculation about the direction of the console wars, along with some good old fashioned brawling…

IdolMaster seiyuu Takahashi Chiaki (Azusa) and Imai Asami (Chihaya), are auctioning off autographed copies of the second IdolMaster game, IdolM@ster Live For You, for charity.
As of writing the price of the signed copies has exceeded the ¥110,000 mark, with less then a hundred bids and is continuing to climb, with 8 hours remaining. The game costs ¥7,000 new.

The Japanese games industry appears to be in the midst of a slump, with sales last fiscal year plunging and Japan’s overall share of the worldwide market shrinking to just under 20%, along with a precipitous 15% decrease in the size of the domestic market, reports Enterbrain, publisher of famed gaming magazine Famitsu.

Nintendo’s performance in the all important US market during Christmas 2008 has cemented the company’s supremacy and likely ensured its future as the major player for some time, though gamers are unlikely to be too inspired by either it or the other successes of the season.
The Wii managed Yuletide sales more than double that of the Xbox 360, leaving little room for runner up S**y.

In case you were wondering who was buying all those Xboxes in Japan, at least some have been going to otaku masters such as the one whose sanctum you see pictured here. He looks to have amassed ten of them, along with every game imaginable… Now we just need to know if they are all working.

Capcom has announced that much lusted after later mainstay of the Street Fighter series Cammy is to feature on the home editions of the game, due for release February 12. Presumably, she will also feature in the anime.
Since Cammy’s basic purpose is posterior service, I shall obligingly reproduce a few such images at the end of the article.

Parkour ’em up game Mirror’s Edge seems to have attracted more attention with its character designs than with any other aspect of the game, specifically where the notoriously ugly (to 2channers at least) protagonist Faith is concerned.
Naturally, 2channers soon set about improving matters, and now it seems the moefied version has attracted more attention than the nondescript original, overseas as well as in Japan.
