Police have condemned adults who play the latest in Nintendo’s popular Animal Crossing series, “Animal Crossing: City Folk”, as being predatory paedophiles, saying “There is no reason an adult should have this game”, and claiming that the only motive an adult could have for playing it is to seduce children.

The news that Haruhi Wii dance game Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou’s opening day sales managed a pathetic 8,500 units, according to announced figures, has been greeted by fans not with horror but with derision.
It seems there can be no doubt now that Haruhi fans have dwindled precipitously, and that those that remain are more jaded than is convenient for the purposes of marketing to.

The Japanese games industry appears to be in the midst of a slump, with sales last fiscal year plunging and Japan’s overall share of the worldwide market shrinking to just under 20%, along with a precipitous 15% decrease in the size of the domestic market, reports Enterbrain, publisher of famed gaming magazine Famitsu.

Few can resist ridiculing what now looks to be the worst game on the Wii by some margin, Takara Tomy’s “Major Wii Perfect Closer”, possibly one of the worst games ever, in fact (though competition is certainly stiff here).

The much anticipated Haruhi Wii dance game, Haruhi no Gekidou, has had its release put back from November to January 22nd, a delay sure to disappoint many, especially in conjunction with the earlier confusing news that the dance portion was “cancelled“. The news comes by way of the official site.
Clearly development has not been without its hurdles; at least there is still the 3D adventure game due for the Wii as well.

Melancholic fans compared the various upcoming 3D Haruhi games to the works of a mysterious 3D CG artist, whose identity seems unknown. As you can see, the games fair rather badly.

The Nintendo Wii is set to get a Video On Demand service this December, called みんなのシアター Wii / Wii Theatre for Everyone, and developed by Fujisoft, with anime and movies to be available via streaming download. Each episode is projected to cost from 100-400 Wii Points (or ¥100-400), and the WiiWare itself another ¥500.
