English Teaching Textbook “Has Madoka too!”

Madoka-BunnyGirls-by-Hattori-Junoct2000

Seemingly following suit to the “goddess” of anime, the stupendously popular Madoka Magica and its lovable magical girls have also appeared in an English-teaching textbook meant for Japanese students, although whether this will actually aid the not untypically abysmal English skills of learners is another matter.

EllenBaker-Teacher-Image-Gallery-3

Since her initial discovery, the infinitely adorable 2D English teacher Ellen Baker has seemingly exploded with popularity, prompting a reaction from her creator Denchubo requesting that artists tone down the graphic content of their artwork – a rather unrealistic request if ever there were one.

Swear like a Marine – for Japanese

Osama bin Konata

Spotted on Akibablog – more shots of the drill quality English you could be learning therein, along with an interview with the Marine involved who warns that using some of that language could get you killed. The text above says “Paki☆Stan?”. Very droll. The exemplar of the “dress up woeful English textbooks with anime characters so it becomes less excruciatingly tedious for unmotivated learners” genre is of course Moetan, who now has abandoned all pretense of helping people improve their English, not that those books were not famously bad.
