The light novel – a genre which at its loosest could be defined as any novel with an anime-style cover, periodic illustrations and, of course, a sparsity of text inversely proportional to the length of its title – having apparently long since outstripped manga and visual novels as the premier source material for late night anime adaptations, it is only fitting that the best such adaptations be ranked by the viewers who lap them up.

Wikipedia’s otapedic tendencies have again been attracting attention, this time with a national comparison of the most viewed Wikipedia pages revealing the most viewed page on the Japanese edition in 2012 was a list of porn stars, followed by AKB48 and a long list of anime, as compared to the English version’s fascination with Facebook and the Chinese edition’s love of Japanese porn.
