
Anime is influencing the fashion trends of Japanese schoolgirls, asserts business and media news site J-Cast, citing reports of a “seifuku (uniform) boom” by one of Japan’s biggest textile companies and recent fashion trends adopting elements such as kneesocks, long popular in anime.
Specific mention is made of two popular franchises, K-On! and Haruhi,with K-On! in particular already having fully authentic cosplay up for sale barely two months into its TV broadcast.

Mongolian yokozuna Asashoryu recently debuted as a fashion model, and a cosplayer to boot, waddling down the catwalk in support of Fanta sales.
In the event, called Shibuya Girls Collection, and held at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, Asashoryu modeled a typical Prussian cadet uniform, the standard for Japanese boys, much to the delight of the 20,000 crowd, most of them female teenagers.

Otaku lolicon cosplay maniacs are advised that a new item of apparel demands their attention.
Combining the charms of Japanese school uniform (specifically that modeled on the classic sailor uniform of a number of navies), and the now iconic school swimwear, or “sukumizu”, which so many Japanese youths are conditioned to consider the height of maidenliness, the alluringly zippered outfit daringly merges two allied fetishes for added mania.
“What kind of class will we be having today, I wonder?” An amphibious one, it would seem.

After complaints from parents over cold legs, a school has opted to reform its uniform to allow schoolgirls to dispense with skirts, if they choose. The prospect of allowing schoolgirls to wear trousers has attracted outrage.
However, with the plan being organised by teachers, a normal choice of trousers proved impossible, and “pantaloons” were settled on to preserve the modesty of the schoolgirls, now they would no longer be displaying their legs…
