Whilst the defining experience of western gaming is generally held to be some variation on dismembering an enemy whilst setting him on fire, the defining element of Japanese gaming is clearly schoolgirls being pursued by tentacles, with plenty of breast jiggle and low angles.

In 1983, young Hideki Anno had just completed a masterpiece promo for the 22nd DAICON Nihon SF Taikai, an event centered on anime and SF.
That work went on to be known as the DAICON IV video.
This, and the preceding DAICON III, were the first works done by a new and talented group of animators who would go on to become Gainax Studios.

Edushi, a Google Maps-like website for China, has been likened to a real version of SimCity, and it is not hard to see why. The site offers gorgeous maps of much of urban China, all integrated with advanced mapping features.
Even for those who are not residents of China, beautiful isometric cityscapes and landmarks make the site well worth visiting.
