When reality is not got enough, there is Photoshop. In this case, 2channers have spied an interesting example: a promotional image for the upcoming anime adapted film ヤッターマン / YatterMan, due 2009, which features possibly ill-advised cosplay costumes.
Above, we see the original version published by rag Sanspo. Below, we see the Oricon version. In case the difference is not plain enough, observe the following animated comparison:

Kannagi fan ire at the besmirchment of goddess Nagi-sama’s marketing push, by wantonly scattering the detritus of Clannad After Story DVD marketing all over it such that Nagi-sama is all but invisible, as you see below, has resulted in the image above: a scathing rebuke to Clannad fans in the form of a parody of Key/Clannad character designer Itaru Hinoue’s peculiar facial style.

A moderately well conceived Neon Genesis Evangelion tattoo adorns this man’s back, an itattoo we might say. But the inevitable question must be posed: would this be a Photoshop, or a genuine irezumi?

For some reason the official art of Shakugan no Shana attracts fans into producing “nude filter” versions, where Shana and company are rendered bereft of clothes with the aid of photoshop and the like, like no other anime. Some of these images are rather interesting, and you can see them arrayed in comparison below.
Higher quality versions are available on the Channel.

A scholar of real world places used as bases for anime scenes has compiled this extensive map using Google Maps, complete with comparison photographs in each locality and covering a wide variety of series, and some, such as Haruhi, are covered in great depth.
It is a very interesting resource.
