A man, Takanori Hoshijima (34), who kidnapped and killed a lady, dismembering her corpse, has given his motive for the crime as “I wanted to make her my sex-slave”.

Ita-Shinto Prayer Plaques

The otaku desire to decorate as much of the otherwise normal world with moe pictures knows few bounds, as demonstrated by the growing amount of ita-ema  on display at Shinto shrines. (Ema are wooden plaques with prayers written on them and offered at shrines or temples for the gods to read.)

New Years is an especially active time for ema offerings, and pictures of some ita-ema have become available online and are shown below.

Idol Condemns Thong Wearing Child Idols as “Mortifying”

Former junior idol and current gravure idol 倉持結香 / Yuka Kuramochi (17, above), known for an episode in which she subdued a groper on a train with her karate skills, has decried the “extremisation” of young idols, some as young as 6, who can commonly be found wearing thongs and other titillating swimwear (illustrated above).

“I’m mortified when I see these young girls wearing T-backs” she says.

Lucky Star Washinomiya New Years Festival

Washinomiya, the real life location of Lucky Star‘s Kagami and Tsukasa‘s family shrine, received a flock of otaku pilgrims celebrating the Japanese New Years tradition of hatsumoude – visiting a shrine/temple on Jan. 1.

Good Smile Company, maker of Nendoroids and Figma, took the opportunity to join in by releasing limited edition Miko cosplay Nendoroids of the 4 main girls at the gathering, the latest of many such events to happen at the small town since Lucky Star turned it into a moe version of Mecca for otaku.

Fears of Photoshop tend to arise from similar photos, but in this case the texture of the nori and only a simple cut-out stenciling job required might make that unlikely?

Otaku Stalk Aya Hirano: “Hunt Her Down & Bite Her Meat!”

Obsessed Malaysian otaku have launched a hunt of epic proportions for bikini idol Aya Hirano after it emerged she was in the country briefly for filming; their hysteria has in a day spanned 20 pages and encompassed efforts to check hotels, to analyse her photos and even to track her down using Google Earth, after she unwisely posted pictures from her hotel on her blog.

Their manic efforts have taken on a bizarre sense of farce, as it has emerged that throughout their frantic search Aya Hirano had in fact already returned to Japan, with the result that their hunt was focused on prey already far out of reach.
