This is the room of Swiss uber-otaku Melonpan, of dakimakura waifu Nia fame. His dakimakura harem is rivaled only by his enormous collection of figures and manga, enough to put the most ronery of 2ch otaku to shame… Behold, “mai room”:

One of the more maniacal otaku proclivities (and even non-otaku may own them) is towards the use, abuse, and collection of artificial wives, life sized dolls designed with sexual satisfaction, or a least a substitute for it, in mind.
In Japanese, in something of a calumny towards the Netherlands, such a doll is known as a “Dutch wife” (which also covers other artificial vaginas), doll, or sex doll. They range from the soul destroyingly basic, to works of extraordinary craftsmanship, which when eventually mated with Japanese skill in robotics will doubtless cause a collapse in birth rates worldwide.
In the mean time, you can examine the state of the art below:

This video displays a large troupe of men in black suits and sunglasses dancing most energetically to Evangelion‘s classic OP theme “Cruel Angel’s Thesis”, in what appears to be a park, before a sizable crowd of onlookers.
It makes for quite the spectacle…

A rather interesting image comes our way, allegedly detailing the appearance and fashion sense displayed by otaku hailing from Hong Kong.
“Don’t be taking girls with you to buy toys now!”

This interesting Nico video shows a mysterious man in a hockey mask carving (chainsawing ?) a wooden replica of Kannagi’s Nagi-sama, or more specifically the wooden statute Jin carved of the second-hand goddess from which she sprang back to life.
Not content with just one statue, the masked creator went on to make a second idol of Nagi, and last of all sculpted what might very well be his masterwork, a leek-bearing likeness of beloved Vocaloid virtual idol Hatsune Miku.
He calls these creations “Mokkoroids”, from Mokkou, meaning wooden (nendo means clay).

The winner of this year’s Miss Japan Grand Prix is Miyata Marino, a 17-year-old high school student and the first of someone in her age group to earn the award in the past ten years(the previous one was Komatsuda Ari in 1999).

The government wants otaku NEETs and hikikomori integrated into society and properly employed (or rather, paying taxes to support the oppressive weight of the unreformed pension system), and to this end at least one regional jobs bureau has opted to fight fire with fire, by unveiling its moe anti-NEET weapon Milk (or Miruku), pictured.

This rather large, and also rather appealing, figure version of Lucky Star‘s erstwhile otaku protagonist Izumi Konata is due to go on sale in June, but has already attracted some attention due not only its size, but also its reclothability (or perhaps declothability)…

Nearly a thousand players of Final Fantasy XI, apparently some 1% of the total global server population, have been punished after an item duplication bug spread across the servers, tempting many into exploits which are explicitly forbidden by all MMORPGs.
The offences of 550 were so egregious that Square Enix felt they had to be permanently banned outright, without recourse, whilst another 400 were suspended temporarily for lesser offences.
One high level account deleted is reputed to have contained ultra-rares (“relics”) worth a putative $50,000 or more (although these numbers are of course contingent upon a sale actually being made).

A fan of Nanoha’s Fate Testarossa has made this strikingly attractive ita-PSP of Fate.
The creator was thoughtful enough to upload a video guide to the creation process to Nico, and with our recently acquired NicoNico embed rights, it is provided below.

The sordid details of the case of an otaku, Takanori Hoshijima, who obsessed over the prospect of creating a sex slave, and then attempted to carry out this deranged plan by kidnapping and violating a lady into submission, instead botching it and murdering and dismembering her, made much of his otaku proclivities.
He was said to play eroge constantly and even to have published his own doujinshi, under the title of “Masa ni Gaidou” – “Truly Depraved”.
The cover to the doujinshi, a volume focusing on the violation and bondage of an OS-tan, is visible above, as it is still listed (but out of stock) in certain online retailers. The author is listed as 寝ろ / Nero (Sleep!).
