The results are bound to disturb some, although several answers do seem reasonable…

These are the sales rankings for anime DVDs as compiled by Oricon for the week of Feb. 6 2009. In addition, the much longed for availability of BD sales rankings is slowly arriving, albeit still lacking exact sales numbers and being reported with a significant delay.
It has been some time since we last covered sales rankings of this sort, but as the latest weekly rankings chart is quite similar to those of recent weeks, it does succinctly demonstrate what sort of releases are popular and being purchased on the streets of Japan currently.

The Minami-ke Okaeri OP and ED songs, Keikenchi Soku Joujou and Zettai Karafuru Sengen debuted today, placing 8# and 10# respectively on the Oricon Daily Music charts.
The appearance of anison (anime songs) on the music charts is not that uncommon, but as both singles are sung by the Minami trio‘s seiyuu and previously only heard on the three episodes broadcast so far, it follows that the CD’s popularity is made up nearly entirely by fans of the show.

Oricon has released results of their poll for the “most interesting” manga of 2008.
Putting aside the more formal statistics of manga sales numbers, the results provide a glimpse of what series are most preferred by Japan’s manga reading public.
