The official Macross F itasha famed for its superb quality and highly ero artwork of Ranka Lee and Sheryl Nome in nude, provocative poses (explicit enough to draw police attention) received a redecorating at the recent anniversary event celebrating the launch date of the SDF-1 Macross in the originals series’ timeline.

These are the sales rankings for anime DVDs as compiled by Oricon for the week of Feb. 6 2009. In addition, the much longed for availability of BD sales rankings is slowly arriving, albeit still lacking exact sales numbers and being reported with a significant delay.
It has been some time since we last covered sales rankings of this sort, but as the latest weekly rankings chart is quite similar to those of recent weeks, it does succinctly demonstrate what sort of releases are popular and being purchased on the streets of Japan currently.

Anican (a free anime and tokusatsu centric newspaper) has published the results of its extensive 2008 Reader’s poll awards.
The number of categories included is somewhat overwhelming, but obviously Macross F pulled out an excellent showing by receiving the #1 spots in both the Anime / Tokusatsu and the Overall Grand Award categories.

The winner of this year’s Miss Japan Grand Prix is Miyata Marino, a 17-year-old high school student and the first of someone in her age group to earn the award in the past ten years(the previous one was Komatsuda Ari in 1999).
The beauty queen discussed her career plans to become a business journalist along with an announcement she made to her audience during the awards ceremony: “I love the anime Macross Frontier. I think anime is a part of Japan’s culture.”
