A group of children who engaged in the practice of “sexting”, texting naked and semi-naked pictures of themselves to one another, have been arrested for manufacturing, disseminating and possessing child pornography.
The girls so charged are aged 14 or 15, and are accused of making the porn, whilst the boys, aged 16-17, are accused of possession.

Unsatisfied with the recently strengthened laws against underage pornography, UNICEF “ambassador” to Japan Agnes Chan, a washed up Chinese entertainer, has presented the government with a petition comprised of 114,624 signatures, demanding the law be revised to UNICEF’s liking, which in this case involves increasing threefold the maximum sentence for certain offences.

The maker of nondescript school anime Hyakko may very well be planning to pursue criminal slander charges against persistent online detractors who have been brazen enough to call the not universally well received anime “rubbish”.
Slander is a criminal as well as civil offence in Japan, with substantial prison terms possible.

A federal appeals panel has upheld the 20 year sentence of a lolicon found to have received illustrations of underage sex by email, saying that “it is not a required that the minor depicted actually exists”, and so ruling art not to be universally protected free speech.
The court also insisted that purely textual email containing incest related material was not constitutionally protected free speech, and so also upheld his conviction on these grounds.

Famed Korean actress 옥소리 / Ok So-ri has been convicted of the crime of adultery, in a medieval parody of modern justice.
She was found to have had sex with a man other than her husband, and for this has been given an 8 month prison sentence, with the courts expressing “leniency” in light of the fact her marriage was previously strained.
An 18 month term, close to the maximum sentence of two years, was sought by her vengeful husband. Her partner in the adulterous liaison has also been handed a prison term.

Finding themselves with nothing better to do for the moment, Japan’s politicians have been generating political capital by humouring moralist groups such as UNICEF, who have launched a hysterical crusade against what they see as lax laws on the part of Japan.
An opposition diet member (of the Koumeito – a major religious party run by a Buddhist sect) recently petitioned the government for even more laws, meaning against loli manga and similar: “We’d like the government to assist with all its energy in bringing these laws to pass” – and Prime Minister Rozen Aso, himself having a Catholic background, responded positively “We must proactively deliberate upon the matter”.

A Supreme Court ruling against freedom of expression in the case was a landmark one, which sets a precedent banning all 2D depictions of sex which may be construed as featuring underage participants.

In a move which has attracted a great deal of puzzlement and no small shock, ero-idol 後藤麻衣 / Mai Gotou has appeared in her latest production, 千夜一夜の夢 / Senyaichiya no Yume, without the customary mocking mosaic to hide her wickedness. This is no black market DVD either; currently it retails through Amazon without difficulty.
Observers wonder whether so brazenly violating Japan’s ludicrous censorship regime, which gaily allows publication of any sort of deviancy but draws the line at showing recognisable human genitalia, will result in punishment as has definitely been the case in the past.
