In an outrageous attack on freedom of speech, nationalistic Korean protests have forced the upcoming satirical WWII anime Hetalia Axis Powers off the air entirely; the issue was even taken up in the National Assembly, where the anime was denounced as being “equivalent to criminal conduct”, such was the hysteria against any possible affront to Korea’s dubious claims over Dokdo/Takeshima.
Craven broadcaster Kids Station apparently felt they had no option but to cave in to the Korean claims of “discrimination”, despite the anime apparently not even including the elements which upset the hypersensitive nationalists.

Furious Koreans have begun an effort to force the Japanese broadcaster of WWII parody anime Axis Powers Hetalia to cancel the series, based on angry accusations that its political satire dares to impugn the mighty nation of Korea.
However, the broadcaster points out that the “Korea” character doesn’t actually appear in the TV version at all…

A rather accomplished Korean artist whose works you may already have seen, but not known the source of, is Alien 1452. You can see a sampling of these fine works below:

Famed Korean actress 옥소리 / Ok So-ri has been convicted of the crime of adultery, in a medieval parody of modern justice.
She was found to have had sex with a man other than her husband, and for this has been given an 8 month prison sentence, with the courts expressing “leniency” in light of the fact her marriage was previously strained.
An 18 month term, close to the maximum sentence of two years, was sought by her vengeful husband. Her partner in the adulterous liaison has also been handed a prison term.

An enterprising Korean paper has got itself into scalding water over mischievously publishing these photographs of female athletes (apparently Spanish swimmers) changing rather artfully in plain view of all, preserving their modesty with only a towel. The IOC is said to be enraged.

In an act clearly carefully calculated to elicit international sympathy for the defence of Korea’s integral heartland of the Liancourt Rocks/Takeshima/Dokdo, Korean patriots have smashed to death with hammers wicked aggressor pheasants of the war bloated Empire of the Rising Sun, outside their very embassy, casting their mangled remains into the embassy grounds.

Korean media and censorship advocacy groups are blaming a Daegu elementary school gang rape incident on the evils of games, specifically an innocent Japanese DS game where the player is tasked with defending his school from the evils of witchcraft (which, in a nod to historical accuracy, just happens to involve probing the intimate areas of the suspected witch, deaf to her pleas of relent). I needn’t bore you with the shrill cries already arisen to ban the interwebs for the sake of the children.
All most unfortunate, I’m sure you’d agree, but what is the game called and where can you get it? The game is “どきどき魔女神判!/Dokidoki Majo Shinpan!” (Dokidoki Witch Holy Judgement), for the Nintendo DS. The game involves searching the bodies of suspected witches for the witchmark which marks all witches as a consequence of their diabolic pacts – your probing is guided by the stylus. The sequel is also due out in a month or two and can be pre-ordered now, complete with nendoroid, so you should still have time to finish the first one.
The irony of a game about hunting witches triggering an actual witchhunt has unfortunately been lost on commentators thus far – I assume that the term simply doesn’t translate in Korean? This all brought to my attention on Itainews.

Only in Korea. It seems two fans took the burning question of which character is best, Haruhi or Eva’s Asuka, so seriously they were forced to move it from an online venue to an offline one, and naturally the ensuing fracas was recorded for your viewing pleasure. Their online argument lasted 5 hours, no word on how quickly the brawl finished. Nobody seems to know who won either. Via Itai News, original Korean article here. View the tawdry spectacle here and here. The article explains it is an outbreak of “現P” (abbreviation of “現実PK” – “Real PK” – MMORPG buffs will know all about Player Killing), something which seems to be a phenomenon limited to Korea and China.
