Artist Aoi Nishimata, renowned as the artist behind Shuffle and a variety of adult games and visual novels, has been at the centre of a storm of controversy as it became known that she was selected as a “representative” artist for Japan, to contribute an illustration to a Lucas endorsed commemorative art book. Non-fans fulminate that the opportunity should have gone to someone else…
For her part, she describes how excited she was to have no less than George Lucas himself look over her contribution, and apparently like it.
This classic image attempts on a larger scale what we have seen before to disturbing effect a number of times: the 2D beautification of subject matter most unsightly. Of course, it isn’t always so.
As we have seen before in a variety of posts, the juxtaposition of 2D and 3D, especially with respect to idiosyncratic or erotic images, often provides interesting material.

A rather useful tool emerges for those of you interested in creating your own 2D anime girls but would rather not deal with the painstaking task of drawing.
The curiously named 柏餅よもぎ / Kashiwamochi Yomogi is an artist whose work you may already seen something of here or elsewhere.
Possessing a style which must surely exemplify “ero-moe”, his works are popular, and rightfully so, though they could not be described as particularly eclectic, tending to focus on a few highly appealing signature characters (in fact the bulk focus on his “red-eyed girl” character).

Two artists have made videos of themselves illustrating new Vocaloid sensation Megurine Luka, whose persona has indisputably solidified into that of dominatrix. She is doing very well for a product which isn’t even released yet…
In the case of the first artist, Xai, he explains that drawing Luka’s clothing was a bit of a hassle, so he reduced it somewhat, in the chest area:
