Genshiken author 木尾士目 / Shimoku Kio’s new manga “ぢごぷり” (misleadingly romanised as “Digopuri” – it is actually pronounced “Jigopuri”, an abbreviation of “Jigoku (Hell) Princess”) has begun serialisation in Afternoon. A departure from his previous themes, though still something of an everyday, slice of life story, it focuses on the tribulations of child rearing, with the antagonist of the title being the demanding baby illustrated above.
The painstakingly ugly rendition of the infant probably gives you the hint – this is a more realistic portrayal of the subject than usual, and apparently breasts and nappies do make plenty of appearances (see below), though not in a particularly titillating manner.

Some dojinshi are conspicuous in how great they are – most of the works of ねこまた屋/Nekomataya fall into this category (also published as ねこまたなおみ/Nekomata Naomi). Nekomataya’s works are probably also essential reading for anyone looking for Genshiken or Naruto dojinshi, but original works have also lately been forthcoming. Whatever the genre, they are some of the most artistically accomplished and erotically potent works around.
