As we have come to expect, the latest Code Geass DVD, the ninth, brings with it a slew of improvements, not least of which are a variety of curious changes to the facial expressions of characters major and minor.

The eighth Code Geass R2 DVD and Blu-ray release borders on a remake, with one episode subject to so many changes that “it’s hard to find a scene which wasn’t changed.”
There were some particularly famous weaknesses in the original TV version of episode 20, which fans are gratified to see have all been corrected.

The DVD version of Code Geass R2 episode 18 (volume 7) has been roundly hailed by fans as an exemplary case of a DVD release being done right – the episode brings the animation quality up to a uniformly high level, where previously some doubts were in evidence amongst fans as to the quality.

Bandai has begun free distribution of Pizza Hut anime Code Geass, with Gundam 00 set to follow, via YouTube, in both subbed and dubbed versions, but unfortunately it has escaped their attention that there are anime fans and potential viewers outside the US, for the time being at least.

Two studios renowned for their extraordinarily draconian approach to copyright enforcement, Lantis and Sunrise, have apparently been demanding anime fan sites remove all episode caps, citing a breach of copyright. Publishing fan art online is also forbidden by Sunrise.
Even heavy hitter Yamakan has offered harsh criticism of the policy, which seems to lend substantial credibility to the missives. There is also some suspicion from the titles involved that copyright is not their only concern…
