This wonderful compilation of recent (mainly 2007 or newer) anime OPs and EDs that were so excellent in quality that “they will make your tear glands burst” has currently been the #1 ranked video in Nico’s anime category for some days now, and with good reason.

This Clannad MAD has attained some popularity on Nico’s recent anime charts, combining surreal imagery from the beloved fantasy drama with the beautiful ef: a tale of melodies’ OP, Ebullient Future.

A pair of new K-ON! MADs have come onto Nico recently, quickly rising up to high spots on the Anime Rankings chart. They certainly deserve their popularity, although for differing reasons…
The first is a 15-minute long masterwork of a fan-episode, splicing together several episodes of the show with a ceaseless deluge of Clannad, Haruhi, and other otaku references constantly bombarding the dazed viewer. It is difficult to describe in words, so a viewing is most recommended.
The second is not nearly as insane, but still makes for a bewildering experience, taking the classic space-cowboy series Cowboy Bebop’s famous OP, “Tank”, and inserting the K-ON! girls in place of Spike and company…

The conclusion of K-ON! has brought a new epithet for the series, “K-ON! is Our Raison D’être”, which has been accepted as official by 2ch.
However, there are many other such anime truisms circulating on 2ch, and a list of them has been circulating for years. Periodically, new anime are added to the list by a decision making process which is not fully understood, but as it has given rise to such self-evident (to 2ch at any rate) truisms as “Clannad is Life“, “Touhou is Religion” and “Hatsune Miku is the Light of Truth” it is clearly worthy of further study.
