The difference is as night and day… In fact it seems a little extreme? Poor encoding, perhaps?

Card Captor Sakura Blu-Ray vs DVD Comparison

The flagship store of otaku goods retailer Gamers is currently displaying the upcoming Card Captor Sakura BD release side by side with the older DVD master.

Not a huge amount of detail can be seen by these smaller resolution photos of a store display (shown below), but fellow fans of the well regarded shoujo classic should find the coming release of the BD version to be happy news.

According to a ranking released by Amazon.co.jp, of the top ten best selling Blu-ray titles, six were anime. Anime fans are thought to be a discerning crowd where visual quality is concerned, and the presence of so much anime seems to bear that out.
