The industry group in charge of ensuring the minds of adults are not poisoned by seeing other people’s genitals free of excessive pixilation, the “Nihon Ethics of Video Association”, has made it known it will be shutting up shop after a 36 year history of protecting the public from the uncensored filth it so craves.

An elementary school outing for a class of 32 to a zoo turned out to be highly educational, in a quite unintended fashion, when the man showing them slides of animals managed to show them some of the adult video he had stashed on the PC serving up the slides.

A former porn star has been arrested for defrauding a doctor of some ¥26,000,000 through a dating club scam; washed up porn star (or at least, AV “actress”) 香野みか/Mika Kouno, at 36 now too old to be performing (except perhaps in certain niche roles), instead over the last few years teamed up with another ne’er-do-well to orchestrate a scheme of fraud and prostitution which would leave one particularly dense doctor ruing the day he joined their club.

The filming of an adult video, on top of a truck in broad daylight, in the middle of Tokyo, led to arrests on suspicion of public obscenity; police say AV production company “Hot Entertainment” staged a lewd performance on the back of a large dump truck driven through central Shibuya, and have conducted raids on the company’s four Tokyo offices in response.
Though apparently passersby could not see the performance occurring on the bed of the truck, those in overlooking buildings were treated to quite the spectacle, which prompted the vigourous police response.

43 proprietors and employees of 42 shops selling “obscene” DVDs in Shinjuku’s Kabukichou red light district have been arrested for peddling smut, Asahi reports. Police claim the arrests are unprecedented in number.
The heinous crimes they allegedly committed were for 12 of their number to sell 141 “obscene” adult DVDs worth ¥102,000 ($1,000), and for the rest to display with intent to sell AV DVDs and magazines inside their shops, which each had monthly earnings of some ¥5,000,000; small fry indeed. How bold these criminals have become to sell adult materials inside their adult shops in the middle of the red light district. Police also helped themselves to all the porn in sight, grabbing 93,000 adult articles, they say. Enough to keep the police busy for a while it seems.
The article, and police, are silent on just in what manner these DVDs were “obscene”, my guess would be they fell afoul of local government or had mosaic issues, as the numbers seem rather large for age issues, but it is at any rate clear that Japan’s ludicrous censorship regime has claimed yet more victims, not that many tears will be shed for a mob of Yakuza pawns.

You may be familiar with ニコニコ動画 / Nico Nico Douga, (“Smile Video”, though Miku Miku Douga would be a more appropriate name), the popular Japanese YouTube-a-like with the significant innovation of allowing users to comment onto the actual video itself – there is an excellent English explanation of the phenomenon here.
Now, just as there is YouPorn & PornoTube to the prudish YouTube, there is イクイク動画 / Iku Iku Douga (“ComeCome Video”) as an AV counterpart to Nico Nico. I can’t confess to having any interest at all in watching unseemly JAV strumpets squeal away under an enormous mosaic, much preferring the two-dimensional artistic and creative media so well developed in Japan, but maybe there are some to whom this is appealing (the huge AV industry is testament to this).
