Closet otaku comedy anime 乃木坂春香の秘密 / Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu has delivered a favourably received service episode sure to broaden its appeal even further; in addition to the obligatory swimsuits and opportune gusts of wind there is plenty of restrained yuri, and the usual erotic antics.
It may not be about to challenge serious ero-anime, or hardcore pantsu anime, for the ero-laurels, but it is doing well considering its timeslot. Just how well? See below…

Something of an intriguing premise underlies this latest manga adaptation: まりあ†ほりっく / Mariaholic, by lady mangaka 遠藤海成 / Endou Minari, centres around the oppression of a cross-dressing boy attempting to duplicitously fit himself into life in a convent school by disguising himself as a pupil, whilst surrounded by young ladies of the sort of tastes typical in exclusively female Catholic schools. Also, it has sadistic maids, and probably nuns.
If you’re not familiar with the work, a chapter is reproduced below.

The colossal and highly successful グイン・サーガ / Guin Saga series of fantasy novels, by 栗本薫 / Kaoru Kurimoto, now standing at over 120 volumes, will be adapted into an anime airing in the spring of 2009. The announcement was made on the cover (obi) of the just released 122nd volume, though that there was activity in adapting it to anime has been discussed for a few years (three years ago, in fact).
This is sure to be an interesting project, and possibly the start of a major mixed media franchise, although as yet further details are lacking. Via Moonphase.

Strike Witches forms a set of titles with an unexpectedly chequered past, and whilst the current anime seems to have found a popular and stable niche for showing off delicious not-pantsu in ultra low angle shots, when they escape the censors at least, the earlier original manga version, even illustrated by something of an ero-mangaka, in fact got canned over this very reason, and has only recently been revived as a completely different title, with a distinctly sanitised air.
Let us take a closer look at the original loli manga, and circumstances surrounding the cancellation, as it is rather interesting…

Popular yuri ero-manga 少女セクト / Shojo Sect, by 玄鉄絢 / Kurogane Ken, has finally had its anime debut, with the release of an adult OVA having just taken place. Below is the exacting ero-analysis I have conducted, and my findings indicate fans of yuri high school love are unlikely to be disappointed.

Unusually, a (popular) web comic has had an anime version announced, in what may be a first. Axis Powers ヘタリア / Axis Powers Hetalia is published on the author’s homepage (it should be said that the author, 日丸屋秀和 / Hidemaruya Hidekazu, does have experience as a professional mangaka), and is freely viewable, though a hardcopy manga version has also been published.

Air dates of the latest anime in the immortal Fist of the North Star franchise have emerged, due October; the title is an adaptation of manga sub-story 北斗の拳 天の覇王ラオウ外伝 / Hokuto no Ken – Ten no Haou – Raou Gaiden, focussed unsurprisingly on Raoh’s antics, with him centre stage.

Prominent ero-mangaka ぼっしぃ/ Bosshi (also published as AskRay) is set to have his most recent manga title, 水着彼女 / Mizugi Kanojo (a sample of which is reproduced below in case you don’t have a clue about him or the work in question), adapted into an ero-anime by studio Pink Pineapple.

Being a long time reader of 沙村広明 / Hiroaki Samura’s various works, especially 無限の住人 / Blade of the Immortal (though I still maintain the Inhabitant of Infinity has the better ring to it), I have been keen to get a look at the anime adaption which has just started airing. It is far from a complete disaster, but in various respects I can’t help but think it falls short of even my modest expectations.

Black Lagoon has had confirmation of its third season; other details are yet lacking. Not particularly surprising given the commercial success of the series, or the amount of manga available to work with, but still.
The rather laconic source (not that this report is any better).

Fans of the inscrutably complex web of adaptations of the 07th Expansion visual novels (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) will be interested to hear that the TV anime adaptation of うみねこのなく頃に / Umineko no Naku Koro ni, a murder mystery doujin visual novel along similar lines to their other titles, has been formally announced. Production activity is set to begin this summer, though release is still some way off.
The official homepage is not yet open (I prefer Interworx to Plesk), but the brief announcement can be read here.
