HitPiece, the newest in a line of shady NFT companies, has offered to sell copyrighted songs as NFTs to “build your unique playlist” with songs major corporations already own.
HitPiece allows fans to possess music (even copyrighted music) owned by major million/billion dollar companies, something that is not deemed possible, and it appears HitPiece is simply pulling songs uploaded to sites like Spotify to offer on their website.

Their website has mostly been scrubbed, with various pages leading to 404 errors, before its current iteration that just reads “We Started The Conversation And We’re Listening.”
The thing is, they are not actually selling the songs, nor the copyright, nor the ability to listen, copy or own the files. They are selling you a number on a blockchain that they CLAIM to be related to any of these songs. If you buy an NFT, you own nothing at all. You buy an illusion.
So exactly like every other NFT? You own “the idea of owning” something.
The sooner this scam is banned & heavily punished, along with bitcoin, the better.

I have to admit that selling mp3 files as NFTs to idiots is pretty funny and so it the triggered reaction of the composers. Maybe they are starting to realise how much they own digital goods.
