Composers Warn Music NFT Company Not to Sell Copyrighted Songs

HitPiece, the newest in a line of shady NFT companies, has offered to sell copyrighted songs as NFTs to “build your unique playlist” with songs major corporations already own.

HitPiece allows fans to possess music (even copyrighted music) owned by major million/billion dollar companies, something that is not deemed possible, and it appears HitPiece is simply pulling songs uploaded to sites like Spotify to offer on their website.

The original composers lashed out against the blatant theft of their work:

HitPiece offered a less than enthusiastic apology (after deleting their first apology):

Their website has mostly been scrubbed, with various pages leading to 404 errors, before its current iteration that just reads “We Started The Conversation And We’re Listening.”
